    The history of The 97th Air Mobility Wing’s “Triangle Y” symbol dates back to when the 97th Bombardment Group flew missions out of Amendola, Italy during WWII. That unit is known today as the 97th Air Mobility Wing, located at Altus Air Force Base. Since then, the wing has switched its mission of tactical aerial support to extending global mobility reach.

  • 97th cyber warriors perform first MDT exercise

    The 97th Communications Squadron used its recently built cyber-training range for their Mission Defense Team to participate in its first cyber defense exercise on Sept. 30,2021. This exercise was in partnership with the U.S. Air National Guard’s 229th Cyberspace Operation Squadron from Vermont. The 229th COS runs a Multi-Application Practical Learning Environment Range, which runs the server for the exercise.

    Airmen from the 58th Airlift Squadron supported exercise “Agile Combat Employment (ACE) Reaper” Sept. 9-10, 2021, by providing airlift capabilities for MQ-9 Reaper assets travelling from Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, to Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
