Airman of the Month: February
TSgt Danny South
58th Airlift Squadron
ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- U.S. Air Force Tech Sgt. Danny South, 58th Airlift Squadron NCO in charge of operations, is responsible for the scheduling and execution of 65 training sorties per week. He leads a flight of seven NCOs in their daily execution of the wing's mission to forge combat mobility loadmasters in the world's only C-17 formal training unit. He was commended for establishing a good working relationship with aerial port counterparts in the 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron and initiating a beta test study group designed to prioritize the cargo loads for each sortie in an attempt to reduce late take-offs and lost training hours for both pilots and loadmasters. He has encouraged a sense of involvement within his flight by leading from the front while participating in professional development Lunch & Learn events and volunteering at Western Oklahoma State College for their casino night.
