Col. Anthony B. "Tony" Krawietz is the Commander of the 97th Air Mobility Wing at Altus Air Force Base, Okla. As commander, he is responsible for the formal training of all C-17 Globemaster III and KC-135 Stratotanker aircrews for active duty, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve units, as well as multiple partner air forces from across the world. In addition, the wing simultaneously maintains a worldwide capability to support combatant commanders by deploying mission ready Airmen on short notice.

Colonel Krawietz graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1990, with a degree in Civil Engineering and as Captain of the Men's Tennis Team. He earned his wings in 1991 and is a Command Pilot with over 4,500 hours in the C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III.

Colonel Krawietz has served in a variety of squadron, group, wing and Headquarters positions. He started his career flying the C-5 at Dover AFB, Del., and then C-17s at Charleston AFB, S.C., Altus AFB, Okla., and McChord AFB, Wash. Colonel Krawietz served two years at Air Mobility Command Headquarters as a Tanker Planner and in the Civil Reserve Air Fleet Policy Division. While deployed to the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, he commanded the 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron where he led the largest airlift hub in Southwest Asia supporting war efforts for U.S. Central Command. He also deployed as the 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron Director of Operations and as the 17th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron Detachment Commander. He has flown numerous combat sorties supporting war efforts, as well as delivering humanitarian aid and vital supplies to those in need.
