7/30/2010 - ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla.  -- The 97th Air Mobility Wing was excited about the possibility of hosting the MC-12W mission.

However, the decision by the Air Force to base the aircraft elsewhere was the result of a deliberative process that came to the conclusion that another location was more suitable.

"I'm proud of how our Airmen stepped forward to show the capabilities of Altus Air Force Base to the site survey team," said Col. Ty Thomas, 97th Air Mobility Wing commander. "The Mighty 97th is proud of our excellent facilities, airspace, partnerships with nearby military installations, and community support. We look forward to similar opportunities in the future to support our Air Force mission."
