ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Tillman, a military working dog, bites U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Laci Mendez, 97th Security Forces Squadron military working dog handler, during an obedience training course March 20, 2014. Handlers train with their dogs in areas such as detaining suspects and detecting suspicious packages. In addition to training the dogs to follow instructions, the obedience course also helps the handlers evaluate the speed, agility and endurance of their canines. ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Tillman, a military working dog, runs across the training course during obedience training March 20, 2014. Military working dogs go through a120-day program to teach the dogs basic obedience as well as more advanced skills, such as how to attack and how to detect specific substances. Once the dogs receive their initial training, members of the 97th Security Forces Squadron teach the dogs and their trainers to work as a team through daily training routines.
