Colonel Charles G. Ohliger is the Vice Commander, 97th Air Mobility Wing, Altus Air Force Base, Okla. He is second in command of the air mobility wing, and is responsible for the formal training of all C-17 and KC-135 aircrews for active duty, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve units, as well as multiple partner air forces from across the world. In addition, the wing simultaneously maintains a worldwide capability to support combatant commanders by deploying mission ready Airmen on short notice.
Colonel Ohliger graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 1992, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Sciences. He was commissioned through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Loyola Marymount University the same year and entered active duty in 1993.
Colonel Ohliger’s previous operational assignments include tours in the C-17A, C-21A and T-37B with deployments in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. Prior to his current assignment, Col. Ohliger was assigned to the U.S. Air War College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., as a senior developmental education student. Colonel Ohliger is a command pilot with more than 4,700 hours in the C-17A, C-21A, T-37B, and T-1A.
