The annual Military Saves Week and Military Youth Saves Week campaigns are scheduled to take place Feb. 24 through March 2.

This year's theme is "Start small. Think big."

"Military Saves Week gives everyone an opportunity to decide or re-decide whether they want to make a pledge or a goal to save money for that week," said Esley Holmes, 97th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center Airmen and community readiness technician.

The Altus AFRC is scheduled to host financial management classes and set up a booth at the commissary throughout the week. The AFRC is also joining forces with the base Youth Center, Child Development Center, Parent Support Groups and local organizations to host additional activities that week.

"Most of us have not had formal money management training, therefore we had to learn how to manage our money through hard knocks; in doing that we make a lot of mistakes," Holmes said. "Military Saves Week gives us the opportunity to learn those proper money management skills and to practice them."

This campaign is designed to promote healthy financial habits for Airmen and their family members by creating awareness of the importance of saving money, which will help them set and reach their financial and personal goals.

Base personnel and family members are encouraged to make a pledge during Military Saves Week to save money.
