Volunteers from the base will be attending the Caring for People Forum to voice their opinions and help create solutions to community problems Feb. 09.

The Caring for People Forum is held annually to make senior leadership aware of issues affecting everyone on Altus AFB.

"This forum is a way for everyone to express frustrations or problems and offer ideas or processes they would like to see work better on the installation," said Cheryl Jones, 97th Air Mobility Wing Sexual Response coordinator. "It gives people a voice so they can see changes accomplished."

Caring for People forum is open to all demographics across the base to come and be a part of one of the five groups who will be discussing issues and then sending the top three to senior leadership.

"We're looking for active duty, retirees, spouses, teens and members with special needs concerns to discuss topics such as family support, deployment support, spouse communication and single airmen programs," Jones said.

Since the forum began it has made many changes to the Air Force community impacting a wide variety of members. The three issues that were brought up in the previous year's forum have implemented solutions, which have positively impacted members of Altus.

"In the past, some of the programs that have come out of the forum is the Air Force wide Single Airmen's group, Spouse's Dinner, school liaison officers are now present on every base and the Exceptional Family Members Program, which has helped fix the concerns of family members," said Jones.

Anyone who would like to volunteer can sign up on the Altus main SharePoint page. Under the communities section there is an Integrated Delivery System (IDS) SharePoint page with a registration section.

"We're accepting 12-15 people for each group but we also need facilitators and recorders who will be trained one week prior to the forum," Jones said. "We are working on having childcare provided to those who need it at no cost to them."
