Armed Forces Day Parade and Celebration

The Armed Forces Day Parade will be held Saturday, May 19 at 10:00 a.m. Main Street, Altus, and a celebration after the parade at Jackson County Courthouse Square at 11:00 a.m.

The event will be celebrated by the Altus Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Altus, and the entire community.

Dozens of parade entries, including military vehicles from Altus AFB will make their way down Main Street from Western Oklahoma State College to the Jackson County Courthouse Square. Flags will be distributed to the community to wave as the procession makes its way down Main Street.

The celebration after the parade will have live music, food trucks, vendors and military demonstrations including the 97 Security Forces Military Working Dogs and Fire Department.

The Grand Marshall of the Parade will be “Old Glory,” the actual American Flag from the local Post 4876 Butch O’ Neal Veterans of Foreign Wars, symbolizing the sacred emblem of the United States and the military.

U.S. Veterans, political candidates, the Boy Scouts, and many other civic organizations are coming to support the nation’s defenders. Airmen in period uniforms will also be featured.
