KC-46 arrival to 97 AMW-Follow up

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. --  The 97th Air Mobility Wing will accept the KC-46A Pegasus during a delivery ceremony and celebration here, Feb. 8.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. in Hangar 517. The event is open to the public, and guests can begin arriving to the event after 3:30 p.m. There will be signs on base directing DOD-ID card holders to the event. 

All non-DOD ID card holders must utilize public parking and bus transportation to the base. Pick-up will be located at the Jackson County Expo Center, 412 Todd Lane, Altus, Oklahoma. There will be signs and directions regarding parking near the Expo Center. Buses will run from 3:15 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. Plan accordingly as a security check point will be in place at the Expo Center. Buses to the event will cease to run after 4:45 p.m. After the ceremony, buses will begin again, running from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. There will be no provided transportation after these designated times. Space for the event is limited to first come, first served.

Prior to boarding the bus, personnel will process through a security screening station. Prohibited items include: firearms, knives (including pocket knives and all-purpose tools, i.e. Leatherman), large golf umbrellas, scanners, backpacks, coolers and large bags. Alcohol, flammable liquids and drugs are also strictly prohibited. The following items are allowed, but will be searched: purses, diaper bags if accompanying a child and camera bags. For the safety of all attendees, all vehicles, persons and their property are subject to search upon entering Altus AFB.

Eric Carney, 97th AMW commander. “Through the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the ‘Mighty 97th,’ we are ready to train the KC-46 aircrew, maintenance and support personnel to provide a new era of air refueling capabilities for the joint force to win our nation's wars.”

The 97th AMW has and will continue to produce combat-capable pilots, loadmasters and boom operators for the KC-135, C-17 and KC-46.
