Leaders from the 97th Air Mobility Wing presented Community College of the Air Force degrees to 17 graduates during a graduation ceremony, May 13, 2021, at the base theater on Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma.

According to the official CCAF website, the CCAF “strives to meet demands of the Air and Space Force’s expeditionary environment and at the same help Airmen and space professionals achieve their education goals by capitalizing on job-related training and education as part of a flexible degree completion program.”

Master Sgt. T. Shane Campbell, 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron first sergeant, said the graduates who received their degrees are bettering both their military and post-military careers.

“Whether you want to be successful in the military or as a civilian, education is vital,” he said. “We will all eventually take the uniform off and a school degree can help start another successful career.”

Staff Sgt. Cristhian Roldan, 97th AMW religious affairs Airman, said higher education has a significant impact on the force at large, and that he plans to use his degree to help those around him.

“It shows that, as a leader, you want to acquire more knowledge to pass on to your troops and better yourself. Anything we learn as Airmen will help the mission in one way or another,” he said. “I believe that it is a step closer to becoming a better leader and I will mentor my Airmen by sharing my experiences.”
