ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Airmen from the 97th Comptroller Squadron and Wing Staff Agencies at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, won 2021 Air Education Training Command-level awards recently.
The 97th CPTS provides financial decision support to wing leaders by aiding the base’s formal training, strategic airlift, and air refueling mission sets, while also providing financial analysis and services to Airmen.
Similarly, the 97th WSA contains 17 agencies that provide a variety of base support functions, including but not limited to protocol, wing safety, command post and public affairs.
1st Lt. Erica Craft, 97th CPTS deputy budget officer, won the 2021 AETC Financial Management Officer of the Year Award.
“I have many mentors who’ve helped shape me into the Airman that I am today,” she said. “Without their time and energy I wouldn’t be where I am now. This award is more of a reflection of the hard work my team puts in every day.”
Senior Airman Gloria Conger, 97th AMW command post emergency actions controller, was recognized as the AETC Command and Control Operations Airman of the Year.
“I am very honored and grateful to have won Airman of the Year,” said Conger. “I really appreciate the support of my coworkers and leadership at the command post and my friends and family. They keep me driven throughout the year.”
Senior Master Sgt. Christopher Kauffmann, 97th WSA and CPTS senior enlisted leader, said that the squadron as a whole is proud of them and how they epitomize the Air Force core values.
“Lt. Craft has been a true leader since her arrival and her recognition sums up her superior work ethic and dedication to serving our Airmen within the Wing Staff Agencies and beyond to our mobility Airmen,” said Kauffmann. “Senior Airman Conger is a true professional. Every day she comes into the command post to not only do a superior job but to help mentor and develop the other Airmen around her. Her presence brings a positive feeling to her peers and leadership team and her award is a testament to the amazing things she does!”
