Airmen, families and members of the Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, community came together for a “Taste of Altus” event hosted by the Committee of 100 at the Altus Community Center, July 11, 2022.

A few times each year, the Committee of 100 puts on a military appreciation event to welcome new permanent party members and students to Altus and build relationships with established base personnel and their families.

“These events are a great demonstration of the unmatched support our community has for Altus AFB,” said Sydney Doorn, 97th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs community engagement chief.  “We couldn't be more grateful for all the hard work that goes into planning and coordination.”

Attendees were able to sample food from local vendors and participate in flight simulators and other video games.

“I have been involved with this for over two decades,” said Molly Reid, Altus Committee of 100 member. “This was a better turnout than we could have hoped for. We appreciate all the people and vendors that came out.”

Col. Jason Pavelschak, 97th AMW vice commander, said he was thankful to the Committee of 100 for their devotion to Airmen and the wing’s mission.

“The Committee of 100 Taste of Altus event is another great example of the Altus community taking care of Airmen and their families,” said Pavelschak. “Events like this are vital to our base’s mission because the community is a large contributing factor to our success here at Altus.”
