Leaders from the 97th Air Mobility Wing and local community members drove more than 20 longhorn cattle through Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, Aug. 25, 2022. The cattle drive is an annual event that carries on the tradition of “The Great Western Trail,” a path that over six million cattle and one million horses traveled during the late 19th century. To date, Altus AFB is the only Air Force base to host a cattle drive. Events like these help show support for the community and continue a 23-year-old tradition.
