The 2013 Air Force Community Assessment Survey is scheduled to take place April 1 thru May 31, with the theme, "A Strong Community Depends on You."

The survey is sponsored by the Air Force Integrated Delivery System with the goal to make known the opinions and needs of the entire Air Force Community including active duty members, reservists, guardsmen, their spouses and Air Force civilian employees.

Service members and civilian employees will be notified by e-mail to participate in this survey. Spouses will be contacted by postcard with an invitation to participate. Each invitation will include a link to the online survey. Service members, civilian employees and spouses will be randomly selected to fill out the survey.

This is the 11th time this survey is being administered by the Air Force. It is a Department of Defense Instruction and Air Force Instruction requirement that this survey is administered.

Opinions and comments made from the previous waves of Community Assessment Surveys have directly influenced support activities and family services at Altus AFB and other bases throughout the Air Force.

"It is important to take the survey so that leadership at Altus Air Force Base can identify areas of community concern and work with the base helping agencies through an integrated approach to address and resolve those issues," said Debra Vassella, 97th Air Mobility Wing community support coordinator.

The overall success of this survey relies on the full cooperation and participation of each survey respondent. Community members are strongly urged to take part in this important study.

"We will take the results of the survey and take it to our IDS, which is a working group council which meets monthly, helping agencies around the wing," Vassella said. "We work community-based problems and issues for the wing to help military families."

As Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley said in recent Community Assessment Survey articles, "Everything we do depends on our people, the living engine of our Air Force. The entire Air Force leadership team is committed to doing all we can to support our Total Force Airmen and their families. We know that through your valuable input, the state of our Air Force will remain strong, ready and capable of delivering airpower, whenever and wherever the Nation calls."
