Financial responsibility is a key component to a healthy and stress-free lifestyle.

The 97th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center is offering financial classes to help those who are having trouble maintaining a budget or seeking additional financial management advice.

This month the AFRC is scheduled to offer civilian financial classes. The classes are scheduled for March 18 at 8 a.m. and March 20 at 1 p.m. in the 97th Mission Support Group auditorium.

"People are potentially spending money on unnecessary expenses and also help participants re-evaluate needs versus wants," said Eric Thayer AFRC section chief.

The AFRC will help identify spending that people should look at to help control their budget.

"Individuals need to write it down; whether it is on paper, a spreadsheet, or on a computer, they need to know where their money is going," said Thayer. "They need to know exactly what their income is and then make adjustments from."

Financial readiness is always encouraged throughout the year.

"Do it now. Do not wait. Even saving a tiny bit can be a significant amount when you retire. In addition have an emergency savings set aside so if something happens you can draw from that," Thayer added.
