Altus is scheduled to celebrate the 64th U.S. Air Force Anniversary by holding this year's Air Force Ball, Sept. 17.

The event will be held at hangar 285 and will start with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

This year's Air Force Ball will include music by the Western Oklahoma State College band and the evening will be highlighted with a speech by Gen. Edward A. Rice Jr., Commander of the Air Education and Training Command. The evening will then conclude with a DJ and dance.

"This event gives us the opportunity to celebrate with the outstanding and unique group we serve with," said Senior Master Sgt. Monica Nicolson, 97th Logistic Readiness Squadron 1st Sgt. "There will also be community leaders and leaders from other bases in attendance so this will give attendees the opportunity to meet and mingle with those folks as well".

Anyone wanting to pre-order wine for the Air Force Ball needs to contact Club Altus at 481-7034 as soon as possible. They have a list with the prices of available wines. Once ordered, the wine will be waiting for you at the Ball when you arrive.

Daycare for the Air Force Ball will be provided by the Child Development Center from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The cost for the first child is $25, a second is $38, a third is $50, and a fourth child is $63; after four children it's $13 extra. Registration needs to be done no later than Sept. 9 by calling 481-7502.

The Air Force Ball's social area is planned to be a sports-related theme. Sports fans will be able to watch any games that are playing during the social hour.
