The 2010 Combined Federal Campaign kicks off on Altus Air Force Base on October 4.

The CFC allows members of the military and government employees to donate money to worthy causes and help those less fortunate than themselves. The base's campaign goal is $100,000 this year.

"We have set a lofty goal, but we think with some hard work and generous contributions, the men and women of Team Altus can make it happen," said Maj. Mike Coppola, local federal coordinating committee board member. "We want to make 100 percent contact - making sure everyone has a chance to learn about the CFC and donate if they want to."

Group and Squadron CFC representatives will be contacting every member of Team Altus, both civilian and military to explain what the CFC is and to solicit contributions. More than 4000 charities participate in this world-wide event, with 14 Altus area organizations taking part. This year's slogan is "iCare."

Maj. Coppola said the CFC gives airmen and other federal employees the opportunity to do just that. It allows them to show local, state, national, and international charities they care, by donating.

Giving is easier than ever, with federal employees able to donate to the charity of their choice with a direct contribution or even a payroll deduction.

The campaign comes to a close on November 12.
