Alesia Flagg, Altus AFB award winner!

Alesia Flagg, is the recipient of the Junior Level Civilian of the quarter award for the second quarter of 2010 at Altus Air Force Base.

When asked what Alesia Flagg credits her award to, she said, "I credit my award to hard work, dedication, co-workers, and family. God, family and co-workers each has played a significant role and has been very supportive."

Flagg's primary duty title is Office Automation Assistant for the 97th Air Mobility Wing. During the quarter Flagg helped accomplish the mission being number one of 20 Command Posts in Air Education Training Command. Flagg was the administration, financial, and security manager, gaining the Command Post of the Year for 2009 in the Air Education Training Command. Flagg renegotiated $21,000 of command and control console systems along with $8,800 of flight line surveillance camera contracts, saving the Air Force $2,000. Flagg provided support for base operations $75,000 phone tie-in to the Command Post system, raising airfield duty efficiency and saving the Air Force $225,000. Flagg also researched and purchased information systems, furniture, and physical training equipment executing a $309,000 end-of-year budget, according to her nomination package.

"Whatever the job, big or small, do it to your best ability or don't do it at all," said Flagg.

Flagg seeks to improve herself along with the base. She is a regular volunteer in the physical training program and completed Oklahoma City's half marathon. To earn an Air Force Association of the year award, she completed seven General Services Administration training courses, she also managed command post's temporary duty program, and mastered the defense travel system.

During the quarter Flagg worked to improve her community. Flagg led the Altus "Bark Park" fundraiser raising $2,000 for a new Altus dog park. Flagg led an air show booth raising $2,000 for Command Post Booster Club. Flagg also led "senior Sunday" honoring four high school graduates. Flagg also coordinated six farewell morale welfare and recreation events.

In addition to all these accomplishments and more, Flagg said, "During my time at Altus AFB, I've volunteered or served in many capacities to include: Medical group, class parent, Altus High School graduation celebration, "Keep Always Young" sponsor mentoring high school students, church youth leader, vacation bible school teacher, Altus Dog Park Association, church usher and board vice president and member, coordinated for church annual Christmas dinner and also founded the female youth group "daughters to destiny," which mentors 30 youth.

"Always work hard and be a team player. Also, I've always believed you reap what you sow, if you sow great seeds, you'll reap great benefits," said Flagg when asked how others could earn similar recognition.

Flagg hails from Detroit, Mich., where she still has family. She graduated from Murray Wright High School, and from Wayne County College with a degree in Early Childhood Development.
