What is a DePLAYment Tag? Published March 9, 2010 By Tech. Sgt. Jennifer Seidl 97th Air Mobility Wing ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla -- As part of the Year of the Air Force Family, families of deployed members are eligible for the DePLAYment Tag Pass Pack... so what exactly is it? "This program is designed to provide respite support for families of deployed Air Force, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, and sister services when assigned to an active Air Force base." "Air Force Installations are provided "DePLAYment Tag Pass Packs" for distribution to eligible members. These tag pass packs contain numbered dog tags that can be removed and placed on a key ring; much like the ones used at stores in the United States to indicate a frequent shopper. The pre-printed numbered code on the tag, called a "tag-code" serves as unique identifier for each family and each family member. You simply pick up your DePLAYment Tag Pass Pack, then log onto the www.myairforcelife.com website to register. Once registered, you may use your tag-pass for discounts and free programs identified by the installation." according to the DePLAYment Program website. The DePLAYment Tag allows free entertainment and services on base for eligible families. There are child tags that can be used for youth or child programs, events, and classes (including sports), up to 10 hours of CDC care and free childcare during mandatory deployment meetings and appointments. Two examples of activities you can enjoy on your Tag at Altus AFB are the Youth Golf Clinic March 16-19 and the Six Flags Trip on March 27. 97th Force Support Squadron signs and posters identify the facilities offering DePLAYment eligible events and services. You can pick up your DePLAYment tag at the Airman and Family Readiness Center, building 52. 2nd Lt. Aisha Smith, who heads the DePLAYment program at Altus AFB, says "Growing up as an Army brat, I understand the strains military duties can put on family life. This program is designed to bring a little extra joy to the people who are affected the most by our service: our spouses, our children, and our loved ones. DePLAYment comes at a great time with our ops tempo picking up speed; these are the times that family support is needed most!" For more information, contact Lieutenant Smith at 481-7042.
