Power was fully restored to Altus AFB at 9 a.m. Feb. 5 allowing 97th Air Mobility Wing Commander Col. Ty Thomas to issue a full recall to all Airmen and dependents who left the area in accordance with the limited evacuation order.

Altus AFB was without power for eight days, which was caused by a severe ice storm that swept through the area Jan. 28 shutting down the base's C-17 Globemaster III and KC-135 Stratotanker aircrew training.

The base temporarily relocated three C-17s and three KC-135s - including four aircrews for each airframe and maintenance support together totaling 67 personnel - to Kelly AFB, San Antonio to resume training. The aircrews will fly for three days at Kelly AFB and will return Feb. 8.

Altus AFB is expected to fully return to normal operations Feb. 8.
