While speaking to a group of nearly 100 Altus Air Force Base personnel, Lt. Gen. Robert R. Allardice, 18th Air Force Commander, conveyed words of inspiration and motivation at the Airlift/Tanker Association Luncheon Sept. 18.

General Allardice began by sharing several stories and reflections of his career in the Air Force. After wrapping up his speech, members of the audience asked General Allardice questions ranging from his thoughts on the future of aviation for enlisted troops; to his most memorable deployments.

As the event was coming to a close, General Allardice called upon a second lieutenant from the 97th Air Mobility Wing to ask a question.

As a response to, "What leadership advice do you have for young lieutenants?" General Allardice used his own personal theory he refers to as "The Six Sides of the 'Dice'" to explain the six characteristics good leaders should have. The six sides of the "Dice" consist of having a vision, communication, positive attitude, discernment, execution and the character to "find what the right thing is and go out and do it."

Members of the Red River Chapter of the Airlift/Tanker Association appreciated the opportunity to hear General Allardice's words of wisdom as they prepare for the A/TA Convention that will be held in Nashville, Tenn., at the end of October.
