Approximately 70 Airmen and civilians will spend time with veterans at retirement homes in neighboring towns and cities on Feb. 14 as part of the Valentines for Vets program here.

Airmen and civilians will visit the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Clinton, Okla.; English Village Nursing Home, Plantation Village Assisted Living and Nursing Care Center and Tamarack Retirement Center in Altus.

The Airmen, wearing their service-dress uniforms, and civilians will hand out homemade Valentines from Rivers the Elementary School, Child Development Center and Wilson Head Start Program. The Airmen will also spend time with the veterans and will hear stories about their time in the military.

"It brings smiles to the veterans' faces when they get to spend time with the Airmen," said Lisa Holland, 97th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs Civic Outreach chief and Valentines for Vets program coordinator.

"The event really benefits everyone involved," she said. "It feels good to give something back to those who served their country and the veterans sure do appreciate it."
