The 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron here was recently awarded the 2007 Air Education and Training Command Daedalian Maj. Gen. Warren R. Carter Effectiveness award.

The 97 LRS received the award due to their excellence in providing outstanding logistics support for their command.

"Our Airmen have managed AETC's largest fuel account delivering 56 million gallons to support 39 wing aircraft without incident, produced a 91 percent mission capable rate for fleet of 514 vehicles valued at $65 million, spurred air transportation of 105 tons of critical C2 equipment to rebuild Iraqi infrastructure and driven 18,000 convoy miles in the CENTCOM AOR to resupply 37 Iraqi bases with 390,000 tons of OIF cargo without casualties," said Lt. Col. Derek Oliver, 97 LRS commander.

The Daedalian Maj. Gen. Warren R. Carter Effectiveness award was established in 1962 by the Order of Daedalian Foundation to help promote maximum supply effectiveness and efficiency in the Air Force.

"The men and women of the 97 LRS are absolutely extraordinary," Colonel Oliver said. "They commit to the highest standards, give their very best effort every day, and take disciplined action to get the job done right every time.

"The bottom line for our vision is 'Fit to be First,' he said. "This award is a testimony to the pride and professionalism they each possess. I am honored to be their commander."

The 97 LRS will now represent AETC at the Air Force level.
