MTV’s Ruthie Alcadie Red Ribbon Week speaker Published Oct. 18, 2007 97th AMW Public Affairs ALTUS AFB -- Ms. Ruthie Alcadie of MTV's reality show "Real World: Hawaii" is the guest speaker for this year's Red Ribbon Week "Alcohol/Drug Awareness" program, 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the Freedom Community Center. Ms. Alcadie quickly became the focal point of the Real World: Hawaii reality show as she had frequent bouts of alcohol abuse. She is the first person in a reality television series to take her illness public. After drinking and driving, Ms. Alcadie was forced into a choice of continuing her alcohol abuse or leaving the MTV series. Her story drew millions of viewers and turned her into a world celebrity. In her discussion, she tackles the root causes of drinking and discusses ways to approach them in a personal, relatable way. Ms. Alcadie will pose for photos with attendees and will sign autographs.
