97th AMW excels in environmental excellence Published Sept. 5, 2007 By Senior Airman Aldric Borders 97th AMW Public Affairs ALTUS AFB -- The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality recently awarded Altus Air Force Base the Oklahoma Star Incentive Program award for environmental excellence. The Oklahoma Star Incentive Program ranks participants among peers and awards Silver, Gold or Platinum stars. Altus AFB earned the Platinum star, which is the highest level any participant can receive. "The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality looked at how we manage our waste, our internal environmental programs and our external community environmental service projects when making their decision to award us platinum status," said Michael Reyes, 97th Air Mobility Wing pollution prevention manager.
