Altus Air Force Base civilian employee dies Published Jan. 18, 2007 By Michael Fletcher 97th AMW Public Affairs ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Paul Hammond Jr., an Altus Air Force Base aircraft maintenance civil service employee, died Jan. 16, while working on a KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft. The Oklahoma state medical examiner's office ruled that the death was caused by a head injury suffered from a fall. Mr. Hammond was a member of the 97th Air Mobility Wing Tanker Division at Altus AFB since 1996. A Safety Investigation Board is forming to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
