Police arrest civilian contractors on narcotics charges Published Nov. 3, 2006 By Michael Fletcher 97th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs ALTUS AFB, Okla. -- Three men were arrested at Altus Air Force Base Monday by the Altus Police Department for possession of narcotics and have been subsequently barred from base. Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Detachment 422, Altus AFB, received information last week that contractors were bringing narcotics onto the base and possibly using narcotics on the job, said Special Agent Christopher Allen, Commander, OSI Det. 422. Altus police and OSI personnel confronted the suspects at their work place on Altus AFB. Six individuals were identified with narcotics either on their person or in a vehicle, three of which were arrested at the time. All six individuals are now barred from the base. "This is a perfect example of how our local OSI detachment is diligent in protecting Team Altus," said Col. Michael C. Mendonca, 97th Air Mobility Wing vice commander. "They reacted rapidly and coordinated superbly with 97th SFS, 97th CONS and outside agencies to resolve. Support from the Altus Police Department and Burkett, Texas police department who provided the K-9 team, was outstanding" This is an on-going investigation by Altus Police Department and the OSI.
