The Altus Air Force Base 2014 Combined Federal Campaign will begin Oct. 1 and end Nov. 14.

The campaign's mission is to promote and support philanthropy through a voluntary program that is employee focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

"Altus AFB has set a goal of $90,000.97, and 100 percent face-to-face contact with all base personnel," said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Shantay L. Pierce, who is a point of contact for the 97th Air Mobility Wing.

As the world's largest and most successful workplace giving campaign, and more than 24,000 charities to choose from, it is the best and most effective way for federal employees to support charities of their choice.  New to this year's campaign, employees have the option to give to "any" charity in the U.S., and not be limited to those listed in the brochure.

"We've all been touched by charitable organizations in some way, and the CFC allows us to return that support to an organization we are personally connected to. I challenge everyone to search out a meaningful charity and support them in some way," said U.S. Air Force Col. Bill Spangenthal, 97th Air Mobility Wing commander.

Altus AFB raised approximately $93,500 for charitable donations around the world last year, and CFC representatives around base are positive the Mighty 97th will continue its long-standing tradition of selfless giving and exceeding this year's established goal.

Group and squadron point of contacts will focus on contacting every member in their respective units to raise awareness on what the CFC is about, why it's important and how to donate.
