ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. --

When inclement weather arrived in Altus during Valentine’s Day, the traditionally warm and fuzzy holiday became a freezing cold and snowy one. Since this occurred, Altus’ annual Valentines for Vets program was delayed.

On February 24, 2021, hand-crafted valentine cards made by students from Rivers Elementary School finally made it into the hands of more than 100 veterans at three different assisted living centers in Altus, along with the Clinton Veterans Center located in Clinton, Oklahoma.

The Valentines for Vets program has been an AAFB-sponsored event since 1998 and the program plans to continue supporting the community outreach efforts into the next year.
