Norman 97th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Ten teams of 10 people will be competing to see which team will be the first to complete 10,000 push-ups and crunches Feb. 22 - June 1, in turn scoring the base 1 million push-ups and crunches. Each 10-person team will have 100 days to complete the goal. If each member of the team does 50 push-ups and 50 crunches per day, the goal will be met. This competition is being hosted by the Fitness Center here. Sign-up sheets, rules and statistic sheets are available at the Fitness Center. The competition is open to all base personnel and dependents ages 16 and older. "The challenge is to help improve morale and promote teamwork," said Billy Miles, Fitness Specialist at the Fitness Center. Prizes will be awarded to the first team to complete 10,000 push-ups and crunches. Prizes will also be presented to the first male and female to reach their goal. According to Mr. Miles, The Voodoo Children won the challenge last year. The team was made up of family members. "There is no military without teamwork, which is what we do at the Fitness Center," Mr. Miles said. "We try to get teams together and give them a goal to work towards with prizes."
