Senior Airman Nicholas Carver, AFSA Airman of the Year

Senior Airman Nicholas Carver is the recipient of the Air Force Sergeants Association's Districts 8 and 9 Airman of the Year.

"I am very humbled by the recognition I received from AFSA; it was an outstanding experience. Getting to talk to the current as well as past Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force is a once in a lifetime experience," said Airman Carver.

Airman Carver's primary duty title is health services management records technician for the 97th Medical Operations Squadron. Airman Carver, a member of the warrior welcome committee, volunteered nine hours to strengthening the base and community relations. He attended AFSA's luncheon with the Command Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Education and Training Command, Chief Master Sgt. Robert Tappana, where Chief Tappana briefed key enlisted affairs. Airman Carver is an active AFSA member and has dedicated 11 hours to meetings and discussions on AFSA events.

"You have to work hard not just in your job but off duty as well," said Airman Carver.

In addition, according to the nomination for award, Airman Carver completed upgrade training by finishing five volumes of career development courses in two months. He has completed 28 semester hours toward a business degree and is currently enrolled in 20 semester hours of classes.

In addition to being stationed at Altus Air Force Base, Airman Carver has also had an assignment at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for technical school. He graduated from West Sioux High School in Hawarden, Iowa, and is married to Sarah Carver.
