Master Sgt. Neal S. Robinson is the 2009 Air Education Training Command recipient of the Master Sgt. Randy Gillespie Fuels Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year award.

The award recognizes individuals who excelled in providing outstanding logistics readiness support for the command.

When asked what he thought about receiving this award Robinson said, "That it is very humbling. It's hard to believe out of all the people out there, someone said that they really appreciate the things that I have done, and said thank you with this award."

As fuels operations section chief for the 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Robinson expertly conducted eight staff assistance visits on multi-force and contractor operated Iraqi fuel sites; 38 findings were identified and corrected. Also, he established a vital inspection guide for newly installed one-million-gallon storage tanks costing $19 million.

Robinson was also responsible for over 37,500 gallons of aviation breathing oxygen issued to over 750 liquid oxygen carts with 100 percent quality pass rate. He orchestrated the safe off-load of 12 million gallons of JP-8 fuel from 1,650 commercial tank trucks. He commanded 100 percent on-time delivery rates in an 11-minute average response time. He scrutinized no-notice compliance spot checks for strict adherence to standards with zero mishaps.

With 24 achievements on Robinson's nomination for award; these are only six items detailing his accomplishments in 2009!

Robinson gives his words of wisdom to others who want similar recognition "To me it's not so much how will it help me, but how will it help us as a fuels team. It can be used to help in mentoring the up and coming young Airman and NCOs by setting an example."

Robinson hails from Stonewall, Louisiana, and has 23 years of military service to include four years in the Marine reserves. He holds an Associate's Degree in Airport Resource Management from the Community College of the Air Force. He is a husband to Katy and father to LaChatsia, 21, a college student, and Airman First Class Jasmine Robinson, 18, stationed at McConnell AFB, Kan.

According to Chief Luwana Hargis, "The men and women of the 97th LRS are truly proud of MSgt Robinson. Because our young Airmen need positive role models, mentorship, and strong leadership, Neal's accomplishment benefits everyone." Chief Hargis is the 97th LRS fuels superintendant.

Robinson, along with the winners from all other major commands, will compete for the Air Force level Aviation Resource Management Award.
