Mobilisa ID Scanner re-implemented at gates Published April 8, 2008 97th Security Forces Squadron ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Mobilisa ID Scanners have now been re-implement at the installation entry control points (Gates). Mobilisa's Defense ID system is an advanced ID card verification system which uses mobile, handheld computers to support military security and law enforcement personnel and will be used as a first-line of defense for preventing unwanted persons access to the base. A hand-held computer running the Defense ID application instantaneously reads the electronically formatted information contained on common forms of ID cards. It then compares the information in real time to various databases and alerts security personnel of individuals wanted for criminal offenses or who are barred from the base for other reasons. The system also uses advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques to identify fake IDs and works with existing military and government ID cards. The ID scanning tool is used for security access control and is not used to track employees' time and attendance. All information is for security and law enforcement use only. Servicemembers must have their military ID card out of their wallet and protective covers when approaching the gate. Current contractor badges do not have a bar code or magnetic strip available for scanning. Contractors will need to have their issued contractor badge and a second form of authorized federal or state picture ID which contains a bar code or magnetic stripe ready. A state issued drivers license can be used. Data from the second form of ID will be compared to the existing contractor database for verification and validation. For more information on the system, please contact Staff Sgt. O'Neill, 97th Security Forces Squadron at 481-7450.
