Altus AFB is hosting a blood drive Friday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the chapel activities room.

The blood drive will allow all medically-eligible base members to donate blood to support the Oklahoma Blood Institute which supplies blood to many local medical facilities.

"It is a great way for our Airmen, family members and other base members to provide a great service to the local community," said 2nd Lt. Erica Buckley, 97th Medical Group chief of laboratory services. "Not only do the donors feel good about the service, but they may even know someone who has been helped by these types of services."

The Oklahoma Blood Institute is the eighth largest non-profit blood center in the U.S. and contributes to 140 medical facilities in Oklahoma. The institute contributes to approximately 250,000 blood transfusions annually.

As an additional bonus, donors will receive a free T-shirt and will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a pair of 2013 Bedlam football tickets.

For more information about eligibility, contact Buckley at 580-481-5396.
