Air Force leads airfield operations at Al Asad

AL ASAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Air Force Staff Sgt. Robert Hughes (left), noncommissioned officer in charge of airfield management operations, and Tech. Sgt. James Gross, deputy airfield manager, both assigned to the 532nd Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron, photograph damage to the runway Nov. 12, 2009. Members of the 532nd assumed Senior Airfield Authority from their Marine and Navy counterparts at Al Asad as of Nov. 1. SAA responsibilities entail the management of runways, associated taxi ways, parking ramps, land and surrounding facilities. Sergeant Hughes is deployed from Altus Air Force Base, Okla., and hails from Colmesneil, Texas. Sergeant Gross is deployed from Keesler AFB, Miss., and is originally from New Bedford, Mass.
