Volunteer Protection Program Recognition Ceremony

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – David Bates (R), U.S. Department of Labor area director, poses for a photograph with Jim Kelly, 97th Maintenance Division director, after presenting the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Volunteer Protection Program plaque at Wings of Freedom Park, May 1. The plaque was presented to the 97th MX to recognize their achievement of VPP Star Status, an award for worksites that have achieved injury and illness rates at or below the national average in their respective industries. The 97th MX achieved VPP star status after seven years of hard work and is the first active duty and civilian based group to achieve the award.
