Innovative Airman of the Week
ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Beverly Newberry, 97th Medical Group staff flight medicine clinic nurse, was named Innovative Airman of the Week, March 25. Newberry manages more than 50 consults and 100 personal monthly visits, ensuring the patient’s needs are addressed before the end of the day. This saves the 97th MDG approximately $7,500 monthly by taking care of problems that would otherwise end up in the emergency department. Newberry also initiated discussions about the needed preventive health services for the patients being seen that day during the clinic’s morning huddle thus alerting providers and support staff of deficiencies. Her efforts have helped to obtain Altus’ immunization rate at 99.9 percent, which is number one in Air, Education, and Training Command and the Continental U.S. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Dillon Davis / Released)
