ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – In past months, Altus AFB has more than doubled the amount of driving under the influence offenses in each of the last eight years. According to the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration there have been up to 17,491 deaths by alcohol related crashes a year and more than 30% of Americans are involved in some sort of alcohol-related crash in their lifetime. Alt...us AFB has multiple resources to prevent Airmen from driving under the influence, such as calling a cab, having a designated driver, calling Airmen Against Drunk Driving, southwest transit (also known as the drunk bus), or calling a friend or supervisor.
