ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Tech Sgt. Patrick Haney, 54th Air Refueling Squadron boom operator instructor, explains how to properly maneuver a boom to Airman 1st Class Erin Ong, 54th Air Refueling Squadron boom operator trainee, Jan. 18, 2011. The 54th Air Refueling Squadron is currently training 18 future boom operators and is scheduled to have a total of 230 people trained by the end of 2012. The students spend two months training at the 54th ARS and perform eight practice flights and one final evaluation flight at the end of their training.
