Altus AICUZ Study

ALTUS, Okla. – Col. Jon T. Thomas, 97th Air Mobility Wing commander, speaks during the Air Installation Compatibility Use Zone Study meeting at the Southwest Technology Center May 26. An AICUZ study examines the air space most trafficked by the base, specifically focusing on its noise contours and its potential for aircraft accidents. The study is conducted by Air Force installations any time a major operational change occurs in order to maintain mission capabilities by promoting compatible land use planning, and to protect the health, safety and welfare of local citizens. The meeting allowed the community to openly ask questions. The last AICUZ study was generated in 1999. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Myles Stepp / 97th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs)
