Denton Amendment allows Altus AFB to support humanitarian operations
JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Tech. Sgt. Jim Hader, 58th Airlift Squadron loadmaster, Altus Air Force Base, Okla., hydrates while helping stack empty pallets at Port-au-Prince Airport, Haiti, Feb. 19. The empty pallets were then loaded onto a C-17 Globemaster III from Altus AFB and brought back to JB Charleston. The crew from the 58th AS delivered 10 pallets of building materials and food, in support of relief operations in Haiti. The materials were donated and delivered thanks to the Denton Program. The Denton Program allows private U.S. citizens and organizations to use space available on U.S. military cargo planes to transport humanitarian goods, such as clothing, food, medical, educational supplies, agricultural equipment and vehicles, to people in need.
