ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla.—“The newest arrival to the Wings of Freedom park is a KC-135 "A" model. This is the original version of the Stratotankers first delivered to the US Air Force in 1957.The KC-135A on display will be painted to reflect the version flown at Altus AFB in the 1980s by the aircrews of the 340th Air Refueling Wing, 11th Air Refueling Squadron. This wing was a tenant unit at Altus AFB as part of the Strategic Air Command”, said Richard Guinan, 97th AMW Historian.
