ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Airmen from numerous base agencies are about to walk past a C-17 Globemaster III as they participate in a foreign object debris walk May 3. This inspection was performed the morning after the Altus AFB Wings of Freedom Open House and Air Show to collect any debris left on the flight line from the event. FOD walks are performed to ensure that all debris and foreign objects are identified and eliminated from the taxiways and runways. The purpose of this is to eliminate the possibility of debris causing damage to the aircraft by being sucked into their engines.
