Airman of the Month
William McCarter, 97th Maintenance Directorate aircraft worker, is responsible for observing and assisting journey-level aircraft technicians in servicing, ground handling, inspecting, troubleshooting, removing and replacing airframe assemblies and components, as well as performing operational checks of these systems. A product of the Grow your Own Mechanic program, McCarter completed his career development courses within four months with a final exam score of 94 percent. McCarter is pursuing higher education in aerospace engineering and is still working on his degree at this time. He is a mentor to local high school students with a similar passion in robotics, volunteering at the robot competitions held at Altus High School.
