Staff Sgt. Anont Koonkongsatian, 97th Air Mobility Wing safety technician, was named Airman of the Month for Jan. 2013. Koonkongsatian exceeded the expectations of the wing safety office only months after retraining from being a radar technician. Koonkongsatian received recognition from the Air Education and Training Command safety flight for creating the new Major Command standard for safety trend analysis. Koonkongsatian is the acting Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of safety as well as the proactive safety promoter, “Earl the Safety Squirrel” and was recently awarded the AETC Ground Safety Excellence Award. He was also selected to attend the Air Force Culture and Language Center’s Language Enabled Airman Program, where he will travel to Thailand for language, region and cultural force development.
