Maintaining the mission

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Members of the 97th Maintenance Directorate raise a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft off the ground using aircraft jacks inside Hangar 509, Jan. 21, 2015. The maintainers raised the KC-135 at least 40 inches above the ground to swing the landing gear ensuring that it properly retracts and deploys. The aircraft is carefully inspected before being returned to the flightline, ensuring that aircrew members have functionally safe planes to operate. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Franklin R.
