ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Members of the 97th Maintenance Directorate attach an air refueling boom to a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft inside Hangar 285 during an inspection, Jan. 15, 2015. A boom sling is used to ensure the air refueling boom does not fall due to hydraulic or electrical power failures. It takes maintainers at least 12 days to thoroughly inspect the aircraft, ensuring damaged parts are repaired or replaced. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Franklin R. Ramos/Released)
