Airman of the month

Jeff Lee, 97th Maintenance Directorate executive officer, followed in his father’s steps and enlisted in the Air Force after graduating high school in 1978. Lee excelled as an aircraft maintainer and quickly became the first senior airman to be a Lockheed C-141A Starlifter Crew Chief. After being stationed at many bases around the world, Lee served 20 years in the Air Force and retired from active duty in 1998. In 1999 he began his civil service career as an aircraft mechanic and eventually came into his current position. As 97th MX executive officer, Lee provides guidance and counsel to aircraft maintenance personnel and management on protocol, awards programs, administrative actions, public relations and personnel issues. He is motivated by meeting challenges head on and often says, “Problems don’t exist, only challenges.” Lee is active in his church and the Boy Scouts of America and enjoys producing artwork and graphics for different units. He attributes his success to his wife Joanne and their three children. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Nathan Clark/Released)
