The last C-5 Galaxy departed Altus AFB in June 2007 as the training mission transferred from the active duty Air Force to the USAF Reserves. This photo shows the last airframe taking off from original runway headed to the Martinsville Air National Guard Base, West Virginia where it would continue to operate. The message on the belly of the aircraft reads, “G-Bye Altus.”
